Grooves are machined into the brake disc surface to force away water, dust and gasses that build up between the brake pad and disc. This keeps the brakes cooler and helps reduce brake fade.

Cross drilled holes helps cooling and heat dissipation and allows gasses to escape.

A heavily laden four-wheel-drive vehicle with oversized wheels and tyres can quickly overheat standard brakes and very large tyres require extra brake pedal pressure to stop them turning. Terrafirma CDG drilled and grooved performance brake discs give better performance and can be used with standard or uprated brake pads.
